Royalty Will Appear at Steele County Dairy Days in Owatonna

Not only can you get a malt and some fair food this weekend (June 19-20) at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, but you can also meet the reigning Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Brenna Connelly of Byron will appear Saturday at 12:30 pm.

Dairy Days runs Saturday, June 19 from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday, June 20 from 11 am to 6 pm. Dad would certainly enjoy fair food and a malt on Fathers' Day. Activities for the kids include a petting zoo, kiddie train rides, horse and hitch rides and a community education craft tent.

The Steele County American Dairy Association hosted Dairy Days last summer as a way to celebrate June Dairy Month. Hungry people flocked to the fairgrounds for a taste of their fair food favorites during a year when the Steele County Fair and other summertime events were canceled due to the pandemic.

Even though most events, including the Steele County Free Fair, are on for this year, the ADA is giving people a taste of the fair along with the aforementioned activities for kids. You may also get the chance to meet Steele County's dairy royalty.

• Kylie Kruckeberg, "I had so much fun last year getting to promote the industry...I like to help with chores (on the farm) as well as mentoring 'cow campers' and younger 4-Her's in the summer."
• Hailey Rysavy, "I live on a third-generation dairy and beef farm. We recently reduced our dairy herd from 200 to about 80 cows, and also raise 700 beef. The farm has been in the family for 80 years."
• Katelyn Rysavy, "I have grown up on a dairy farm and I want to promote the dairy industry and products...I fed the young calves, helped with yard work and garden work as well as house chores."
• Lilly Zollner, "I would like to represent the dairy industry and teach the public about why they should support dairy farmers and how amazing dairy cows and their products truly are."
