Even though there’s an ongoing battle on whether waffles are better or pancakes, you can’t deny that pancakes are truly a classic! I will say I am team pancake and so I am excited to share the best places in southern Minnesota to get pancakes.

And finally, saved for last I have the top three best ones, however, they are in no particular order.

#3: Jensen’s Café, Burnsville

Considering on their website they state, “Breakfast all-day + lunch. Oh, and did we mention booze?” you know this place is about to rock!

Okay first off, Jensen’s has not only cinnamon rolls but unlike other places they serve apple cinnamon bread (3 slices of breakfast bread laced with cinnamon and apples with a brown sugar and cinnamon center).

But man does Jensen’s have a wonderful pancake and waffle menu. Not only do they serve pancake options like Lemon Ricotta cakes (topped with raspberries and blackberries) and Strawberries N’ Cream cakes, but they serve Swedish Pancakes!! AHHH! If you have not had a Swedish Pancake, you are defiantly missing out (it’s like a mini crepe)!

Jensen’s Café is a walk-in, first-come-first-serve breakfast joint that’s open 7 am – 3 pm Daily.

#2: The Buzz Coffee & Café, Burnsville

Okay, so this place only does waffles but I wanted to keep it on the list for 2 reasons: 1. There waffles are incredibly delicious and when served to you in a shop the environment makes them even more delicious. And 2. I wanted to make sure I had 10 places and the other ones I would recommend are just not worth the drive.

I have also eaten and visited this place very often. I started going here in high school and it is honestly such a cute shop with DELICIOUS waffles! And there are so many options, too! Are you ready? Their waffle options include Apple Crisp, Banana Nutella, BBQ Chicken, Birthday Cake, Lemon Blueberry Dreams, Fruity Pebbles, AND 96 MORE!

You can view the full list when selecting waffles on the menu and then selecting which option.

So yeah, safe to say you NEED to visit Buzz Café sometime soon!

#1: The Original Pancake House, Burnsville

And last, but certainly, not least is The Original Pancake House. While there are locations in Eden Prairie, Edina, and Roseville, there is one in Burnsville!

Since 1953, the original owners drew upon “their many years of experience in the culinary field, and their extensive working knowledge of authentic national and ethnic pancake recipes they were able to offer, without compromise, their unique and original menu,” noted on their website.

And boy do they have many, many pancake options! Their specialty options include Dutch Baby German Pancake (served with whipped butter, lemons, powdered sugar, and hot maple syrup), Apple Pancake (filled with fresh Granny Smith apples and complemented with a Sinkiang cinnamon and sugar glaze. Add whipped cream or ice cream), and a couple of others. They also have others like Pumpkin Pancakes, Coconut Pancakes, and Swedish Pancakes!

I have been to both the Burnsville location and the Eden Prairie location and not only do they have good food, but the environment is beautiful and friendly. They really do prioritize their customers and make sure they have full bellies when they leave.

The Original Pancake House is open daily 6:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. But again, they are very popular so expect a bit of a wait or get there early!
