According to a new study, Minnesota is among the ten 'safest' states during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bean counters and number crunchers at WalletHub have poured over the data and determined which states have been the safest (and which have been the least safe) during the coronavirus pandemic.

Minnesota cracked the top-ten coming in at number nine.

A number of our midwest neighbors did very well, with North Dakota coming in at number five, and Iowa at seven. In the middle of the pack, South Dakota finished at number 23 and Wisconsin sits at 26th.

The WalletHub team looked at things like population size, vaccination rate, positive testing rate, hospitalization rate, transmission rate, death rate, and more.

Minnesota scored very well in the areas of positive testing rates (low) and hospitalization rates (low).

At the end of the day, healthcare experts say remember this one simple mantra to reduce the risk of becoming infected with any variant of the coronavirus (or the flu or a cold for that matter). "Don't swap air."
