Whether you want to run 5K, walk two miles or know a child that would like to do the fun run around the Owatonna High School track, there is something for all family members at the Owatonna Rotary Club's STRIVE Wellness Run. The annual event is Saturday, August 18 during the Steele County Fair.

If you don't want to run or walk, you can cheer on the participants. The event attracts hundreds of people from around the state and out-of-state. The OHS cross country teams run along with former Husky runners, who come back to town for the fair. 2018 marks the 15th annual run.

There's plenty of incentives to run or walk. You can justify a few tasty treats at the fair, either before or after the event. Walking and running are good exercise. The course is very flat. The t-shirt that comes with registration always has a great, creative design. The festive atmosphere and wonderful volunteers add up to a great reason to wake up early on a Saturday morning.

Additionally, the event raises money for the Rotary Club's STRIVE program. It represents Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education, which awards scholarships for Owatonna High School seniors.

The 5K and two-mile events begin at 9 am, starting and finishing at the OHS track. The kids 400 and 800 meter runs are at 8:15 am and there is no need to preregister for the kids runs.
