Thanksgiving Stuffing Requires This One Delicious Minnesotan Ingredient
I know Thanksgiving is still three weeks away, but that doesn't mean we can't start to discuss what should be present on your table this year.
You may not know, but Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love spending time with my immediate family and thoroughly enjoy devouring the delicious Thanksgiving staples. In fact, this holiday is the only time I will willingly be involved in the cooking.
Now, if you're tired of your old stuffing recipe, try this *very* Minnesotan Wild Rice Stuffing, a Shel B family staple.
Of course, the most important part of this food dish is the wild rice. This ingredient is what truly transforms this side dish into a Minnesotan favorite.
Ingredients Needed For Shel B's Homemade Wild Rice Stuffing
- 1/2 C. Wild Rice
- 1 1/2 lbs. Jimmy Dean Sausage
- 1 Large Onion, Chopped
- 2 C. Celery, Chopped
- 7 oz Bag of Seasoned Bread Cubes
- 4 C. Chicken Broth
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper
- Dash of Sage
- 1/8 C. Melted Butter
My family likes to double the recipe and freeze half for another round of enjoyment in late January or early February.
How To Create The Best Thanksgiving Stuffing
1. Cook rice until tender--about 20 minutes.
2. Brown the meat, onion, and celery.
3. Soak bread cubes with broth for 15 minutes.
4. Mix all together in a crock-pot.
5. Cook on high for 2 hours.
6. Cook on low for 2 hours or more until ready to serve.
I highly encourage you and yours to try this stuffing recipe this holiday! If you do, please let me know if you like it. I have a feeling you will.
