Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester firefighters fought a blaze near power lines, electrical wires and a propane tank in northwest Rochester Wednesday night.

The Rochester Fire Department says crews were dispatched to the fire shortly before 10:40 p.m. The first firefighters to arrive found a detached garage at a residence in the 3900 block of 5th St. Northwest fully engulfed in flames.

Rochester police officers on scene told firefighters the residents reported no one was inside the garage and crews began to fight the flames. Officials say the flames were put out before they could spread to nearby houses, ignite a propane tank near the garage or touch nearby power lines.

 No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Officials say a family of three people and six dogs who live at the property and were not displaced by the fire. The garage and its contents were deemed a total loss. Firefighters say the garage did not have a vehicle inside of it.

The Rochester Police Department, Rochester Public Utilities and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the fire call. RPU cut off power to the power lines near the flames. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
