Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Olmsted County is reporting its second COVID-19 death in as many days - and it’s the youngest person in the county to die from the virus.

The death of a man in his 20s was reported Thursday, raising the county’s overall total to 23.

Olmsted County Public Health says the victim had underlying health conditions and was living in a private residence. The victim was only the fourth fatal case in that age group in the state.

Olmsted County reported 21 new positive cases Thursday, raising its total to nearly 1600.

Meanwhile, the state Health Dept is reporting a troubling figure. The number of COVID patients in intensive care was listed at 151 Thursday - the highest since June 27th.

State officials have voiced concern this week about the growing number of COVID-related hospitalizations.
